Brewn’ is a dynamic Australian-based country rock band whose sound, as well as their story, centers around good times, good music and good ole’ fashioned “blue collar” hard-work.
Here is a working class band, writing about their jobs, their cars, their lovers and their hometown, projecting pride in their identity and in a language their fans can understand.
Today, Brewn is known as the live band of choice of Australian Country legend James Blundell and for their unique sound that’s a lively fusion of Australian Country Rock mixed with influences from the pub rock scene.
Australian Country rock act – Brewn - has been creating quite a stir over the last few years thanks to their unique sound and authentic approach to their music and performances.
A down to earth bunch of good blokes - Brewn sing about real life tales - that deeply resonate on a profound level with real people. Brewn’s music unites people from all walks of life – and display immense pride and passion in their roots.
Comprising lead singer and guitarist, Michael Bond, twin brothers – John and Anthony Barbara - on drums and lead guitar and Zach Whittaker on bass – Brewn’s sound captures elements of country rock and the best from the Aussie pub rock scene. The band’s signature style makes them one of the most exciting acts on the live circuit.
The current line up has seen Brewn evolve from a respected bar band to professional touring act. It was through their energetic live performances that the band caught the ear of Australian Country Icon, James Blundell. Blundell has been a vocal supporter of Brewn, and often includes them as his opening act or as his live backing band at major events such as the Deni Ute Muster, Country Rocks Sydney, Mount Isa Rodeo, Ground Water, and the Sydney Royal Easter Show. The have also been recruited to perform with the All Australian Girl, Tania Kernaghan, at various shows.
In the early years – Brewn gathered a strong following working the local bar scene. Always longing for something more - they realised quickly that to make it - they needed to separate themselves from the other bands playing the same venues. It was then, Brewn, decided to write about what they know and become an original act in their own right.
In 2010, Brewn released their first EP, "Bear Country Road", which won an award at the Canberra Country Music Festival for Best EP.
The following year, the band released it’s debut album, "Rusted On". The album received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both fans and critics alike and showcased a combination of polished and authentic Australian Country that made it a winner in the hearts of many. "Rusted On" also won an award for Best Production at the Canberra Country Music Festival.
In 2015 the guys hit the studio with respected producer, Robert Mackay to record "My Town". The album has already spawned two top ten singles in "Someday" and "My Town".
Proving themselves as dedicated, hard working and professional via their work with James Blundell, Brewn caught the attention of Red Rebel Music who agreed with Blundell – that these guys have something special to offer. They joined forces in April 2017 and are currently working on a range of exciting projects and releases together.
The single "Carolyn" was released in June 2017. The video for "Carolyn" featured internationally acclaimed model/actress, Imogen Bailey and directed by Duncan Toombs. The fourth single, "Top Gear", was released to co-incide with their appearance at the Deni Ute Muster and hit the KIXFM Top 10.
Brewn was also invited to be part of the "30 Years of Pride - A Tribute to James Blundell"album released by Red Rebel Music. The band contributed the reimagined version of the classic, "Down on The Farm" and also featured on the new recording of "Way Out West" alongside Blundell, Tania Kernaghan, Adam Brand, Bec Lavelle, Ben Ransom and Paul Costa. The new version hit #1 in January 2018.
2018 has proved a busy year for Brewn performing at numerous music festivals, high profile events and various pub and club shows. The band will be part of the 60th Anniversary of the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo alongside Aussie Music legend, Jimmy Barnes as well as James Blundell, Tania Kernaghan and The Wolfe Brothers. They are also currently writing material for the next album which is due to be recorded in the second half of 2018.
